Royal Sands is located just off Shoal Point Road in the suburb of Bucasia. Just fifteen minutes drive north from the booming Mackay precinct and 15 minutes from the Bruce Highway.

Mackay is the gateway to the Whitsundays and the Great Barrier Reef islands, where a life on the water could become your home away from home. Boating and fishing are an easy change of pace via the local boat ramps or Mackay’s marina. Lindeman Island, Keswick Island, Brampton Island, Carlisle Island, Scawfell Island, St Bees Island and Goldsmith Island, are ready for you to explore.

Whatever your water sport, Mackay has something to offer – sailing, canoeing, kite surfing, windsurfing, snorkeling, scuba diving, and of course, fishing are all available in the area.

If the onshore wilderness is more your style, then Mackay’s sub tropical rain forests, intriguing wildlife and resplendent scenery of unparalleled national parks are sure to impress. One of the local favourites is Cape Hillsborough National Park, about 54 minutes drive from Royal Sands, with hoop pine and rain forest-clad hills jutting down to the sea, the scenery is truly pre-historic.

Just to the north of Royal Sands is Shoal Point, Mackay’s most northern of the northern beaches. With spectacular views to the islands and beachfront, shady picnic areas will enable you to enjoy your fresh whiting or reef fish from a cool, scenic vantage point.

The Mackay Golf Course and Mackay Northern Beaches Bowls Club are only 11 minutes drive from Royal Sands Boulevard.
